{"id":127,"date":"2017-11-29T03:04:31","date_gmt":"2017-11-29T03:04:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/woods.coplacdigital.org\/keene\/?page_id=127"},"modified":"2017-12-04T14:22:08","modified_gmt":"2017-12-04T14:22:08","slug":"history","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/woods.coplacdigital.org\/keene\/history\/","title":{"rendered":"History"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Founded in East Alstead, New Hampshire, the MorningSun intentional community is surrounded by wildlife.\u00a0 Located on 240 acres of land, there are currently three households containing seven adults and five children members as well as members in other housing.\u00a0 The community has land to expand up to eighteen residences, each on 1 acre of land.\u00a0 MorningSun is in a quiet area surrounded by forests, streams, and ponds.\u00a0 People have been living in this community since 2009.<\/p>\n<p>In the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ic.org\/directory\/morningsun\/\"><em>Fellowship for Intentional Community<\/em><\/a>\u00a0website, the listed spiritual practices are Christian, Buddhist, Jewish, Native American, and other.\u00a0 The community is known for its meditation and spiritual practices, but it is open to all kinds of religions.\u00a0 This organization is based largely in religion, deriving from the Plum Village tradition. MorningSun founders Michael Ciborski and Fern Dorresteyn lived at Plum Village in France, training in meditation under Thich Nhat Hanh, before coming to New Hampshire to start a community.<\/p>\n<p>The mission of MorningSun community, as identified on their Facebook page is to \u201cpractice living mindfully, developing and sharing our capacity to live in peaceful and harmonious relationship ourselves, other people, organizations, and with the Earth\u201d.
